WHO WE ARE
PLC – Companhia de Vinhos do Alandroal, was born in 2000 by three friends with a common interest of creating high quality wines, Paolo Fiúza Nigra, Luís Bulhão Martins and Carlos Portas, from winegrower families with a long tradition, gave the initials of their names to the project: PLC.
Pontual Wines, as the company is commercially known, has always aimed to produce wines marked by Alentejo’s authenticity.
In Alentejo’s undulating plain, in Alandroal, the team gathered 150 hectares of vines planted in schist soils, where both indigenous grape varieties and those from other latitudes find the best terroir for excellent grape production.
The first wine produced and bottled appeared in 2001, Pontual Touriga Nacional & Trincadeira Preta, followed by Syrah, the first single variety wine, and Reserva Red.
Currently, Pontual Wines maintains the Pontual brand in the entire range of wines, red and white, in blend and single variety versions. The consistency of quality, balance and elegance, is evident through the medals won in Portuguese and international competitions, as well as through the excellent scores awarded to tasted wines by the specialized press.
